Back to Umbra

Getting started

Download Umbra, install the matching DLL, and run your scripts on Windows.

Get Umbra

Get the bootstrapper and DLL from Releases. Your Roblox version must match the DLL’s version hash.

Install RobloxPlayerBeta.dll

  1. Close Roblox and Umbra before copying the DLL.
  2. Open your Roblox version folder containing RobloxPlayerBeta.exe.
  3. Check the folder’s hash: this DLL requires version-cec3ad5889b447cf.
  4. Put RobloxPlayerBeta.dll beside the EXE. Keep the filename unchanged; back up any existing DLL outside the folder before replacing it.
  5. Run the bootstrapper and follow its prompts.

The bootstrapper updates itself; the DLL does not. After Roblox updates, get a matching DLL from Releases. If one isn’t available, wait for an update.

Try the editor

In the browser demo, type a script and press Run or Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on Mac). Use + for a new tab; output and errors appear below your code.

The demo runs Luau locally, without Roblox APIs. Use the Windows app for Roblox execution; ask in Discord if you need help attaching.
